A dancer is a person who is skilled enough to use their body prompt to create an artistic blend of their bodily movement with the music. Despite the fact that there are few career prospects of dancing in Nepal, a dancer is still honoured and liked for their skills. However, movie choreographers earn a good deal of money.

Dancers usually do the following

- Attend costume fittings, photography sessions, and makeup calls associated with dance performances.
- Collaborate with choreographers in order to refine or modify dance steps.
- Coordinate dancing with that of partners or dance ensembles.

Working Context

Most of the dancers are found to have done this profession partially. As there is more competition in this profession, more practice is required. As there is more physical activity in this profession, one should be physically and mentally fit. Since this profession does not have a fixed place and time, you have to be able to arrange your own time. The dancers also work as an instructor in private schools as well as working in various places like festivals, fairs, streets, movies, musical restaurants and bars and other musical fields. They can also become choreographers or artists.

To be a dancer one has to do a Bachelor in Dance which is a four-year course under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offered by Tribhuvan University. Similarly, training from private institutes that provide specialized classes are available, but they do not provide one with valid certification as a dancer. There is a testing system in place for certifying by Skill Testing Board 'Music and Dance'. This examination requires one to have 3 years of experience in dancing and music.
