Social Mobilizer is responsible person for mobilizing the community through dialogue, awareness raising and using "Participatory rural appraisal" (PRA) /"Rapid Rural Appraisal" (RRA) tools to identify causes of local problems and their solutions.Participatory rural appraisal (PRA) is an approach used by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other agencies involved in international development. The approach aims to incorporate the knowledge and opinions of rural people in the planning and management of development projects and programmes.Rapid Appraisal is an approach that draws on multiple evaluation methods and techniques to quickly, yet systematically, collect data when time in the field is limited. RA practices are also useful when there are budget constraints or limited availability of reliable secondary data.

Social Mobilizers usually do the following

1.Social Mobilizers are expected to mobilize target group;
2.organize and implement activities at village/district level.
3.Support project team by rapport building with community and local stakeholders to conduct meetings and create environment for meaningful participation.
4.Conduct necessary awareness raising classes/ trainings to the community ensuring participation of women, marginalized and disabled.
5.Facilitate in community to select and mobilize volunteers, training participants, task groups etc based on the set criteria.
6.Hold monthly meeting with committees and collect report from facilitators and members.
7.Monitoring of project activities based on plan and checklist and prepare monthly progress report.

Working Context

1. Priority will be given to local residence of project area 2.Good knowledge and experience on working with local NGOs and CBOs with a capacity to providing training to local people. 3.Experience and understanding of community mobilization. Sensitive of integrating gender and diversity issues into humanitarian and development programme 4.Good written and spoken Nepali, English and Local languages with negotiation skills. 5.Work under pressure and response to changing project needs. Ability to cope at difficult conditions.
