The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is one of the three functioning faculties of Pokhara University. It is the youngest Faculty of the University. It has a vision to be the Centre of Excellence on Social Sciences in the South Asian region. The Faculty has accordingly initiated its academic programmes on development, which include Master in Population, Gender and Development; Bachelor of Development Studies; and MA and MPhil in English. The Faculty runs some constituent programmes and all programmes are also run by affiliated colleges. The Faculty is in the process of expansion and will continue with new subjects which are more interdisciplinary though core disciplinary and multidisciplinary subjects will be started as required. The Faculty focuses on contemporary and futuristic social sciences as we firmly believe that this Century has to be mainly dealt with social issues of development with a focus on mainstreaming of all social, economic, political and cultural groups in development of Nepal and ultimately of the whole world. This demands identity of all groups of people in the society and expects their inclusion not only in mainstream development, but also in decision making through participatory and democratic process.
